Recent development projects in Lynnwood have the city poised for a bright future. A new convention center, a new transit center and expansion of the Alderwood Mall have positioned Lynnwood for continued growth in business and leisure travel. The Lynnwood Convention Center attracts smaller groups for meetings, conferences and banquets.

Lynnwood’s Alderwood Mall is the largest shopping center in Snohomish County. The center incorporates the indoor shopping center, anchored by Macy’s, Nordstrom, JCPenny and Sears, plus an outdoor annex. The outdoor portion, called The Village at Alderwood, features a selection of upscale retailers, including Pottery Barn and Williams-Sonoma. The mall also has a 16-screen movie theater and several restaurants.

The city’s athletic complex features lighted fields for softball, soccer and football, sand volleyball courts, an all-weather track and tennis courts. Additional sports facilities are available at city parks and the Meadowdale Playfields. More than 300 adult softball teams play at the Meadowdale facility during the season.

Community events include summertime Shakespeare performances, a performing arts series held at Edmonds Community College and weekend matinee performances for families at Meadowdale High School. The city also organizes events for seasonal holidays, including a Fourth of July fireworks show, a winter celebration at the Civic Center and an Easter egg hunt.

Many additional recreational opportunities are just a short drive from Lynnwood. Nearby Seattle hosts professional baseball, basketball, football and ice hockey teams. A variety of outdoor activities are available in the Puget Sound area, including whale watching, birding, mountain climbing, skydiving and fishing. White water rafting, skiing and snowboarding are all within a two-hour drive.
